Production & Purification Technology: The Core of High-Purity Performance

Unlike standard industrial grade pigments that use conventional wet or dry processes, our high-purity specialty iron oxide pigments are manufactured through a proprietary, multi-stage closed-loop production system, specifically designed to eliminate impurities, control crystalline structure, and optimize functional performance at the nano scale. The production process starts with ultra-high-purity iron raw materials, including electronic grade iron powder and high-grade magnetite ore with total iron content exceeding 72%, with strict incoming inspection to reject raw materials with excessive heavy metals or insoluble impurities. The qualified raw materials then undergo a multi-stage acid leaching and purification process, where 99.9% of harmful heavy metals (lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury) and insoluble impurities (SiO₂, Al₂O₃) are removed through controlled chemical reaction, ion exchange resin adsorption, and multi-cycle deionized water washing.

After purification, the pigment precursors undergo precision calcination in a fully enclosed, computer-controlled inert atmosphere furnace, with temperature controlled within ±5℃ to ensure uniform crystalline structure formation, no secondary pollution, and consistent color performance. Unlike conventional open calcination processes that cause impurity contamination and uneven particle size growth, our closed calcination system preserves the complete crystalline structure of the iron oxide, while optimizing particle size distribution and pore structure for targeted applications. The final step is nano-scale surface modification, where the pigment particles are coated with customized silane or polymer surface treatments to improve dispersion, compatibility, and functional performance in specific resin systems, such as UV-curable coatings, cosmetic emulsions, or high-temperature engineering plastics.

This proprietary production process enables us to produce high-purity iron oxide pigments with total iron oxide content exceeding 99.5%, insoluble impurity content below 0.5%, and heavy metal residues far below the strictest global regulatory limits, making them suitable for the most demanding high-end and safety-critical applications that standard industrial grade pigments cannot meet.

First, ultra-high purity and global food contact & cosmetic safety compliance. Through our multi-stage purification process, we achieve total iron oxide content of 99.5% or higher, with insoluble impurities such as SiO₂ and Al₂O₃ strictly controlled below 0.5%. The residual levels of harmful heavy metals, including lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury, and barium, are far below the limits set by the strictest global regulations, including EU 10/2011 (food contact plastic materials regulation), US FDA 21 CFR Part 178.3297 (colorants for food contact polymers), China GB 4806.6 (food contact plastic materials safety standard), and EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009. Our food contact grade pigments are fully approved for use in food packaging materials, food contact coatings, kitchenware, bottle cap coloring, and other food-related applications, while our cosmetic grade products are suitable for lipstick, eye shadow, foundation, mascara, and other color cosmetic formulations, with no skin irritation or sensitization risks verified through third-party biocompatibility testing.

Second, extreme high temperature resistance and thermal stability. Our specially calcined high-temperature resistant grades can withstand continuous operating temperatures up to 800-1200℃, with no color decomposition, fading, or crystalline structure change under extreme high-temperature conditions. This performance is 3-4 times higher than that of standard industrial grade pigments, and far exceeds the thermal stability of almost all organic pigments, which typically decompose and lose color at temperatures above 300℃. This extreme thermal stability makes our pigments the ideal coloring material for high-temperature baking coatings, ceramic glazes, enamel products, and engineering plastics processed at ultra-high molding temperatures, such as PA, PEEK, and PPS. Even after repeated high-temperature firing or processing cycles, our pigments maintain stable, bright, and consistent color performance, with no color shift or degradation.

Third, ultra-fine particle size control and exceptional dispersion performance. We offer micronized and nano-scale grades with precisely controlled particle size distribution, with an average particle size adjustable from 50nm to 2μm, and particle size distribution span controlled below 1.5. Through our advanced surface modification technology, our pigments deliver outstanding wetting and dispersion performance in even the most challenging systems, including high-solid coatings, UV-curable inks, engineering plastics, and cosmetic oil-in-water emulsions. Unlike standard grade pigments that are prone to agglomeration and flocculation in high-viscosity systems, our surface-modified high-purity pigments disperse uniformly with conventional processing equipment, with no agglomeration, no sedimentation, and excellent long-term storage stability. This exceptional dispersion ensures high gloss, uniform color development, and no surface defects in end products, meeting the strict appearance requirements of high-end automotive OEM coatings, luxury cosmetic products, and premium consumer goods.

Fourth, industry-leading color accuracy and batch-to-batch consistency. We implement a proprietary digital color management system throughout the production process, with high-precision spectrophotometers used for color testing at every production stage, from raw material incoming inspection to final product packaging. This strict end-to-end control enables us to achieve batch-to-batch color difference controlled at ΔE ≤ 0.5, which is 50% tighter than the industry standard for high-end pigments, satisfying the ultra-strict color accuracy requirements of high-end automotive OEM coatings, cosmetic colorants, luxury consumer goods, and high-end printing inks. We also provide professional custom color matching services, with the ability to match over 98% of custom color samples provided by customers, with a color difference of ΔE ≤ 0.3, to meet the most demanding personalized color requirements.

Fifth, customizable functional performance for niche applications. Beyond basic coloring performance, we provide fully customized functional grades tailored to specific high-end application needs. This includes magnetic iron oxide grades with precisely controlled magnetic properties for lithium battery anode materials, magnetic recording materials, and wastewater treatment catalysts; UV-shielding grades with enhanced UV absorption performance for outdoor high-end coatings and cosmetic sunscreen products; anti-corrosion grades with optimized passivation performance for marine engineering and offshore wind power anti-corrosive coatings; and anti-static grades for electronic component packaging and clean room materials.
